Great Depression strong worldwide economic crisis that occurred in autumn 1929 and lasted until the end of the 1930s.It was most noticeable in U.S.A.There it Started in October 1929 with the collapse of the New York Stock Exchange ("Black Friday"). U.S. banks have tried every way to reduce catastrophic tendencies, but they failed. The response of government economic policy was overdue.
The Great Depression affected the Arizona state. It hit Arizona hard.At first local, state and private relief efforts focused on charity, especially by the Community Chest and Organized Charities programs. Federal money started arriving with the Federal Emergency Relief Committee in 1930. Different agencies promoted aid to the unemployed, tuberculosis patients, transients, and illegal immigrants.
